ActionSpace artist Ian Wornast was featured in Londonist: Urban Palette for his new permanent commission at the Unilever Campus in Kingston.

The feature, written by London art critic Tabish Khan, explored Ian’s creative process, his connection to Kingston, and the story behind the mural – a joyful and personal response to the area where Ian spent part of his childhood.

“I was so delighted that I got the commission… I met different communities and got some ideas.” – Ian Wornast, via Londonist

What’s in the work?

The mural captured Ian’s memories of Kingston alongside familiar sights from the local environment. Like much of his wider practice, it included bold linework, vibrant colour, and references to public transport and architecture. It is both deeply personal and recognisably urban, a reflection of how Ian sees and maps the world around him.

“I do one piece at a time… When I was done with all six pieces, I put them all together.” – Ian
