Arcadia Missa has worked closely with Nnena Kalu and ActionSpace over many years; our relationship developed organically through sustained dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration.

Before Nnena Kalu’s first solo exhibition at the gallery in 2024, Arcadia Missa founder Rózsa Farkas spent time volunteering at ActionSpace’s Studio Voltaire site. This built a longstanding connection with the artist and the organisation in order to fully understand Kalu’s practice, as well as gaining an even deeper understanding and appreciation for ActionSpace’s essential work in supporting learning disabled artists.

Defining a shared system of support was vital for both organisations to best work on behalf of Nnena Kalu, and is in many ways reflective of other working relationships in the current art landscape. Formal representation has allowed us to expand the visibility and reach of Kalu’s practice while remaining grounded in the supportive community that has shaped her development as an artist.

From our perspective, the relationship has been defined by mutual trust, shared values, and a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for artists often excluded from prevailing art structures. We are proud to have supported growing institutional recognition for Nnena’s work and to continue working alongside ActionSpace in advocating for ambitious, artist-led futures within contemporary art.
