Abundance at Project Ability

x3 returns with a new touring exhibition ‘Abundance’ as part of the Explorers Project

We are delighted to announce Abundance, a new group touring exhibition featuring the work of three artists, Erin Keogh (Project Ability), Chandrakant Patel (ActionSpace) and Kathy Wilmott (Venture Arts), selected by artist Sonia Boué. The exhibition is the culmination of x3, a three year collaborative project between ActionSpace, Project Ability and Venture Arts celebrating the excellence of their work with learning disabled artists. All three artists in Abundance have significant bodies of work and are being shown on a larger scale for the first time in this exhibition.

Abundance is open at Project Ability in Glasgow, before going on to tour in Manchester and London in 2023.

There is an abundance of line, colour, texture, energy and talent, which I would love audiences to experience IRL, after such prolonged periods of confinement and remote contact. My vision is for audiences to connect with the immediacy, energy and abundance of life within the three selected practices.

x3 is a collaborative project between ActionSpace, Project Ability and Venture Arts which began in the Covid19 lockdown, as a way of connecting these three organisations and showcasing their artists’ work through digital exhibitions. The x3 touring exhibition is part of the Explorers Project. Explorers is a dynamic collaborative programme of art and action that opens up routes into artistic practice for neurominorities, dismantling attitudinal and systemic barriers to representation and rights in art and society. Explorers is led by Project Art Works, in conjunction with eight key partners: ActionSpace, Autograph, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Intoart, MK Gallery, Outside In, Photoworks and Venture Arts. About Sonia Boué

Sonia Boué is a multiform artist. She is also a writer on autism and art, and a consultant for neurodiversity in the arts. She has a significant body of postmemory work and her current focus is neuro-inclusive practice-led research.

Sonia Boué has been awarded multiple Arts Council England project grants; her work has been exhibited internationally, and is held in digital form at Tate Britain, the BBC, and Bodleian Library. She has performed in the UK, Ireland, and Spain. Her collage works have been acquired by the Kanyer Art Collection. She was recently nominated for the OutSet Research Trip to Documenta 15 for disabled artists and curators, and was the recipient of a commission for We Are Invisible We Are Visible (2021 Ampersand Prize) presented by DASH, the disabled led visual arts organisation.
