UCL PEARL, Dagenham, RM10 7FN

ActionSpace Artistic Director & CEO, Sheryll Catto and artist Andrew Omoding presented at CVAN London and UCL PEARL‘s innovative day of exploring ways to view and curate art in different contexts.

Opening Up the World tested ways to make art accessible and inclusive methods of making art exhibitions; transpose art to locations around the world, and leverage data for inclusive audience development. Drawing on PEARL’s ability to control lighting, sound, smell and space, the event also demonstrated how to test and present artworks in different curatorial conditions.

Sheryll Catto was in conversation with CVAN London’s Director and Chair, Jo Townshend, discussing what is needed to make the visual arts sector fair and equitable for learning disabled and neurodivergent artists.

ActionSpace artist Andrew Omoding presented a series of goat-like sculptures and his performative practice in different curatorial settings through PEARL’s innovative multisensorial facilities. Visitors were transported into new sensorial landscapes, as they were presented with cards infused with scents of goats, Andrew’s sound work and immersive projections of different environments.
