Sharon Adokorach: Collaborative Printmaking

Sharon Adokorach works with colleague on an artwork. It's a large piece of white fabric on a table with pink and yellow printed shapes on it. Sharon is reaching to the middle of the fabric, where there is a grey pattern.

"Sharon’s work has evolved into a complex jigsaw of original shapes and colours, conjuring up visions of landscapes and vibrant worlds. She has recently added expressive words to her pieces. Working with Ann Norfield at East London Printmakers has allowed Sharon to focus on her unique shape designs, by using the colours in multiple layers to create endless new design possibilities."

ActionSpace artist Sharon Adokorach worked with East London Printmakers on a new printmaking project, produced by ActionSpace and funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Sharon Adokorach’s distinctive practice consists of designing intricate colourful patterns constructed from abstract forms that interlink with one another.

In this project, Sharon worked with East London Printmaker’s Ann Norfield to further develop her screen printing skills and led a collaborative workshop with fellow printmakers at the social enterprise printmaking studio in Mile End. Over four consecutive workshops, Sharon and Ann worked with members of East London Printmakers to make collaborative prints responding to forms and patterns created by Sharon.

The project culminated in a group workshop at East London Printmakers’ studio in which Sharon co-led a participatory workshop with East London Printmaker key holders to make expansive screen printed works responding to Sharon’s practice.

This collaborative project built on the one-to-one workshops Sharon accomplished last year at East London Printmakers to develop screen printing techniques and a new approach to her practice.
