Profile

Abdul Hakem creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional work through organised and overlapping systems of form, colour and texture. Working with a range of materials from metal wire, beading and textile, Abdul’s adept knowledge of form and construction allows him to create sculptures that are simultaneously lively and methodical.

Taking inspiration from celebratory occasions such as discos, dancing, and Christmas time, Abdul’s choice of shiny surfaces and vivid colours reflect his interest in these joyous environments.
